Mission Cantina presents a special tequila pairing dinner event, featuring Tequila Fortaleza.
Hear about the history and craft of Tequila Fortaleza, still made the traditional way, by hand, in small batches, with love. The evening begins with a cocktail hour featuring live Latin music, then guests will taste their way through four courses, each paired with a Tequila Fortaleza expression. A truly exceptional agave experience!
With over 140 years of history behind the brand, Tequila Fortaleza still uses traditional and artisanal methods to make their delicious tequila in heartland of the Tequila Valley, in Jalisco, Mexico.
Tequila Fortaleza has four expressions, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Still Strength Blanco, previously only sampled by those visiting the distillery. Tequila Fortaleza agaves are allowed to grow and mature for at least 8 years before harvesting, becoming very sweet and mineral-rich. The agaves cook for 36 hours in a stone oven and are then tahona-crushed in a stone pit at Destilería La Fortaleza. The juice is fermented in open-air wood tanks with their proprietary yeast for four days before being distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills. Fortaleza Blanco is exceptional, bursting with rich cooked agave and bright citrus notes. Fortaleza Reposado rests in charred American oak barrels for 7 months, while Fortaleza Añejo remains in the barrel for two full years, imparting flavors of vanilla, apple, earth and cinnamon to the Reposado, deepening to notes of caramel, toffee and hazelnuts in the Añejo.
